- 연제: The acquisition of human skills using multimodal VR interfaces
- 강연내용: The acquisition of sensori-motor and cognitive skills composing the repertoire of human culture takes time and effort. Hours, sometimes years or decades of practice are necessary to master the large number of relevant degrees of freedom that constitute the essence of skill. Within the SKILLS FP6 EU project (www.skills-ip.eu), we use multimodal virtual environments to accelerate skill acquisition. In my lecture I will (i) briefly outline the research policy in the European Union (6th and 7th framework program), (ii) present a general approach for decomposing complex skills in relevant and functional elements, and (ii) illustrate how skills can be learned in VR situations using specific skill accelerators, training protocols, and transfer situations. Accelerators are conceived as sets of capturing, analysis and feedback techniques that can potentially improve the training of one or several skill elements. Training protocols are training setups, identifying training conditions, relevant variables and sequences of training phases to be followed in the VR environment. Transfer situations are evaluation contexts in which users are trained with a mixture of real and virtual training sessions, and the skilled acquired transferred into a real context. Illustrations will be given in the the fields of sport and entertainement, rehabilitation and surgery, and industrial maintenance.
